Beer of the week for December 10, 2020

Our Bottlecraft North Park manager, Gene, selects his favorite beer of the week. You can stay up to date on our beer shop favorites through our news feed and also through our Instagram.

  1. Enegren Foliage | Autumn Lager (5.5%)

With an intriguing mix of German-derived malts and Pacific Northwest hops, Foliage combines aspects of multiple brewing traditions together as one. This seasonal is coppery amber in color (like the brewery’s core Altbier, Valkyrie), with judicious Cascade and Chinook hops for a classic pine/citrus dichotomy rounded off by Enegren Brewing‘s touchstone clean-lager finish. Fans of Sierra Nevada Brewing‘s Celebration Ale will surely enjoy this one.

  2. Alvarado Street / Green Cheek All the Secrets | Hazy Double IPA (8.7%)

Evan Price at Green Cheek Beer Co. is unquestionably one of the finest brewers in Southern California for hoppy beers (though his lagers absolutely shine, as well). We receive said beers down here in San Diego so infrequently as to be almost never. Well, half a Green Cheek beer is better than none! Brewed in collaboration with longtime friends Alvarado Street Brewery, this is a hefty hazy double IPA decisively hopped with Citra, Nelson, Strata and Simcoe.

  3. Prairie Bourbon Paradise | Barrel-aged Imperial Stout (13.7%)

Available just once a year, this offering is for those who crave dessert stouts. A bourbon barrel-aged iteration of the base recipe for Paradise (dosed liberally with coconut and vanilla), this is a true slow-sipper of a beer. With black-light artwork upon a purple background, depicting what seems to be a botanist’s sketchbook or an alien planet, Bourbon Paradise is instantly recognizable as a Prairie Artisan Ales creation.
