Andechs Vollbier Hell

Campbell loves lagers. “The lager doesn’t need to be the star, but it’s always a great supporting cast.” Campbell’s adoration for lagers began while living in Prague where he was spoiled with great Czech & German lagers. It opened his eyes to how many different varieties and flavors existed within the style. Some were more malty, some with fruit, some schwarzbiers (black lager), and some more classic and clean, but unique in their own Andechs Vollbier Hell. This Bavarian lager is brewed at a Benedictine monastery just outside of Munich. The beer pours super clear with a pale golden hue lighter than most German lagers. The nose gives off an aroma of early morning clean cut grass followed by fresh warm toast out of the oven. It has a good light body with a clean grain presence. A subtle addition of noble hops provide a slight floral/herbal element (think hint of mojito in this case). This beer is great to drink now with the warmer weather and Spring upon us.
